A growing concern for parents is that AI (artificial intelligence) is now just a phone call away—unfiltered, conversational, and designed to feel lifelike. Unlike the internet, it doesn’t require a browser or a screen; you simply dial a number and talk. This makes AI highly accessible and addictive, and parents and teachers are already seeing it create serious challenges for children and teenagers who previously had very limited exposure.
The good news: some phones can block AI calling numbers. Currently, AI calling is blocked on the FIG Flip 2, the TCL Flip 2, and certain Kyocera models—but for the TCL Flip 2 and Kyoceras, the block only works if a kosher block is installed (Purifone, KosherTek, or Kosherphone, depending on the model). Note that only certain AI phone numbers are blocked, mostly the more popular ones. If you have one of these devices, or plan to buy one, make sure the FIG Flip 2’s software and the TCL/Kyocera kosher block software are fully up to date. For families with landlines, it’s also possible to route your line through an AI-blocked cell phone. More phones may gain AI-blocking features in the future, but there’s no timeline yet.
Technology changes fast, but staying informed and proactive allows families to continue protecting the safe environments they’ve worked hard to build.
